somber shelter sincerity, subterfuge speculation, suffocating faceless fantasies he’s not so sure he’ll last another day. cravings for a cigarette his current distraction.

she unexpectedly found herself with thought thinking he was always different. as if this is always as it was. yes, he is just there rummaging about creating an economy of movement.

his difference so subtle only by accident can one catch the commitment in his eyes. living in a halcyon hurricane amongst the quietly unperturbed, they began to gather their sails dreaming of departure.

i use to think strength was everything, to hold on until you can’t hold on no more. now i know differently. it ain’t so bad to let go. that’s a different kind of strength. an unseen strength that’s more than myself. oozing out and overflowing like a strange brew of magic.

tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow,

clearly seen from the backseat of the old blue chevy the movie was going to be something i was not going to remember. thankful for salty buttered popcorn and coveted condoms we decided to enjoy the evening stars and serenading moon in the fully clothed fury of our youth. the passing poster had advertised something about an old southern family written by faulkner who somehow knew the intimate details of life gone wrong in the illusion of walking shadows grasping for breath. briefly distracted from the hands and eyes that began to wander to the intimate softness of my delicate ingenue, i was suddenly aware; quickly realizing he had shifted into overdrive and soon the show would be over before i ate my portion. too soon for him and too late for me, innocent guilt reflected on our inexperienced faces as we tried to smile the disappointment away. recovering quickly we separated to own thoughts and watched benjy’s silence in the dimness of a faraway first night’s experience.

In silent declaration her heart opened wide as she accepted the proposal of his love. Impatient to inaugurate, they eagerly gathered their abstract lives into a joint account of allegiance. Shopping for sheets she felt his love surrounding her every breath and smiled secretly. He wondered how he would tell his possessive dear mother there was a new woman in his life and she would have to let him go. Previously untouched their love bloomed in a beautiful bouquet of flaming fire inextinguishable in its thirst. As night lighted the evening moon her love found the key to his weary heart and set him free as an eagle flutters skyward.
