the new of old

touched by a tender tendril of toughness
you rub the raw from my heart
we gather old cobwebs and
make silk socks of togetherness

sometimes in the uncertain
you bring me back
where no one likes to step
you hook your arm around
my waist, and with
steady heart you sooth and rock
you provoke me landward

  1. touched by a tender tendril of toughness. That is magnificent in itself. gathering old cobwebs and making silk socks of togetherness. The phrasing here is intimate, interesting and provocative. It is as if this is the rekindling of an old relationship, timeworn that still has value in its shared memories. Just a guess. The second one I am not so sure, but again it seems to be focusing on bringing up the past “where no one likes to step”. I love the juxtaposition of words throughout. Lovely.

  2. Making silk socks with you would seem to be a wonderful way to spend time, contemplating things of the heart, finding the right words.

  3. I can relate first hand to matters of the heart, both figuratively and literally. I love ‘one’, it reminds me of so much in my personal life. ‘Two’ is tender and touching and dreamy. Makes me think of moments I’ve shared with the one I love. Beautiful stuff.
