waiting for the bus

magpie tales no 25 photo; and writer’s island no 14 2010: the journey. i really liked the photo this week over at magpie tales and writer’s island had a great prompt as well. at night late when one boards a bus we never know whom it is we shall meet. i’ve been there, half asleep eyes unfocused….

11 pm quiet cool evening
creating cellophane spaces
where shapeless shadows stand
sprouting at several spots
lodged along the active avenue
enjoying a secret sanctuary

seemingly occupied
the bench taken with three
the few left to stand
agile energetic forces
clear and conscious

destination bound luggage
filled with not forgotten dreams
lightly lathered in love
settling soothe sincerity
shadows shift then soar

ticket holding departure
clasp firmly by strings
unpredictable carrying key
whimpering lock harmonizing fit
stepping up to board
a forward 1 am float

  1. Oh..this brought back memories!!
Home to school after a weekend…boarding a bus at the weest of hours… a look of uncertainty on my face..wondering who will I be sitting next do.. brr…
    Sent shivers down the spine!
    An awesome read!

  2. love your writing. always. you have some very clever ways at looking at the world and jotting it down.

sometimes i feel like im following a little trail of post-it notes where you write a little thought down, then drop the note, then write another, and so on and so on.

and when its all done, there is always a nice poem left.

  3. I enjoy the images you create, they’re a direct link to unknown places bound to exploring.
Loved the way the traveler holds the ticket, I should learn from him ( I always lose my ticket…).

  4. love this. i feel as though you’ve taken us all on this journey with you. i especially like that first stanza. it sets the poem up nicely. have a great day.

  5. I love your “floaty” images… and particularly this stanza:

    “destination bound luggage
    filled with not forgotten dreams
    lightly lathered in love
    settling soothe sincerity
    shadows shift then soar”

writing is everything...
