  1. reminds of the movie,The Shawshank Redemption, but then there’s other movie – the title of your poem, I suppose this is what everyone thinks when they’re in prison but it could be when someone’s inside their inner prison

  2. Beautiful, almost makes you want to let them out yourself.
I agree with Lissa too, it could be the bars we have erected around our inner selves too.
    Nicely done,this one.

  3. i’m interested in the “walking” verb of the title. relative to the poem, i mean. this is a poem i’ll come back, its got me in contemplation. it being a small poem, the words are chosen concisely, and so each one has value. i’m also focused on the word “reprieve.” a temporary relief? maybe the prisoner isn’t looking for mercy but for a moment without pain, torture, sense of punishment. hoping for hope? enough time to build strength? oh my mind wanders lol. good stuff. i’ll have to mosey around your blog.

For some reason, I felt very sorry for him. I don’t know what he did, if he deserved to be in there or not, but… I felt like something was off. And like maybe he deserves a second chance.

  5. yea seriously someone who would be behind those bars would surely be craving for sunshine…
    Well written

    Nice blog btw

  6. i agree TC, how one gets to that place is not all that simple… i was thinking of both movies lissa, and there’s another one too.. kevin bacon 8 degrees.. no,that’s not the name of it… but he was in solitary confinement for quite a few years.. i believe it was a real story… yeah, there’s bad guys out there with no conscious… how often have we made mistakes and suffered terribly for them.. once made there’s no taking it back…

  9. I think that would have to be one of the most horrible feelings in the world. To be behind bars, able to see the outside world maybe, and know life is slipping away, day by day.

    Well done.

writing is everything...
