the best of times, the worse of times

Friday 5 this week prompt: theater, malaria, yield, incalescene, leaf

standing at the curb
waiting for a taxi
i happen to catch
the last leaf falling
from the old weathered tree

yield to the moment
and remember
the last time i fell

it was the theater
in different sections
both caught staring
through the secret lens

unguarded and naked
this incalescene
had never left
from across the wide room
we stumbled, we stared
alone in the crowd
we smiled and mouthed hello

months passed
bedridden and weak
words hardly spoken
miles between us
the malaria left

amidst the fever
and the chills
changing bedsheets
and showering
our love
silently departed

  1. You ended this on a sad note. I was expecting to see the lovers end up together. Otherwise, I loved the poem. Keep up the good work.

    Have a nice day.

Sorry it took so long for me to come by but, I couldn’t get here by your link. I had to look around to find the post.

    Oh this is superb,

    “amidst the fever
    and the chills
    changing bedsheets
    and showering
    our love
silently departed” caught me for sure… was expecting a different twist. But loved the way you think, thank you.

writing is everything...
